@JulieSqveakaroo $1 billion in lost value and somehow they still don't understand banning porn was a terrible decision

re: social, internet, mh-adjacent, Old Person Stuff, RP, same old periodic question
@zebratron2084 I feel this extremely hard, and... outside like, F-list (which is a hellplace all of its own), not really to my knowledge.
That said, E and G feel like huge contributing factors there, along with a light sprinkling of H in the form of tech companies stomping down on passive self-expression wherever possible, I feel.
@kd@yiff.life Aaaa yes~ And yeah, we originally invented equal temperament so we could play music in any key we wanted (something that'd eventually find great use by the likes of Bartók, Prokofiev and Stravinsky as well as Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders) but at the same time, the old meantone systems weren't without their own useful quirks, and it's like... we're in the future, we can absolutely just have both things now.
@kd@yiff.life yeah!!!
Also honestly microtonality/messing with different tunings is just rad in general, like, every system has its own weird peculiarities that lead to different quirks, limitations, and new things you can do with them. The big ol' IMaj7 - bVIMaj7 - bVIIMaj7 progression I've got going on here locks together way better than it would in 12TET, but conversely, using triads would've felt lackluster where 12TET's triads are pretty dramatic by comparison.
@kd@yiff.life Made separate instances of my instruments for each voice, added a FL keyboard controller for each, set that up to make microtonal adjustments for each note, linked every controller to the appropriate pitch wheel and punched in the score like that.
Actually wrote this in a 12 tone scale too, but since there's 19 notes now you can do that while still maintaining a sense of inherent tonality, without having to impose strict harmonic rules to keep things together nearly as much.
@kd@yiff.life Hmm. I've experimented with 19 equal temperament here and there before (cf. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tsqv6wu31p9n1jp/19tetbreak.mp3) but yeah, there's a -lot- of untapped potential with alternate tunings out there in general, honestly.
re: field guide to otherkin
@Oneironott go for it!!!
re: masto tip, kinda snarky?
@kiilas oh yeah I figured this out way back myself, it's a life saver
tend to scroll just far enough to push the most recent toot out of sight just to be safe
re: Rocko's Modern Life Static Cling
@argylewerewolf@snouts.online @AzureHusky god, same - my voice is easily one of the most dysphoria-inducing things about me and having that bit of legitimization that yes, women can have deep voices without it being the punchline of a joke feels so good.
