@Felthry Well, it was just a thousand copies of the player ship- The keyboard controlled them all, so when there was a disruption they didn't react to it in any way and just started colliding.
Added fancy visual effects so you can tell when you're moving
Now I guess I have to... Actually make it a game...
ok so Unity gets unhappy with around 2,000 ships loaded good to know
(they all started in a neat grid facing the same way, but one ship bumped an obstacle and it all cascaded from there)

If someone is pulling you with Space Magic Ray, they can pull you faster than you can move yourself, but you can still move from side to side- and with slick flying you can spiral out of the beam's reach if they don't compensate
Spaceship movement code keeps being slightly-broken in interesting ways that make for good game mechanics
