Reasons why I won't ever read dune again, and why I chucked my copies in the garbage years ago:

• The novels are a racist "white savior" narrative

• The novels are sexist and perpetuate the myth that women can just "shut down" a pregnancy at will

• Cultural appropriation is all over the place

• Paul Atreides and other central characters are literally the product of a eugenics program

• The novels are homophobic and fatphobic due to Baron Harkonen's portrayal

• Books 5 and 6 include themes of sexual assault through the Honored Matres, and each of those two books includes a scene where a minor being raped. Both scenes are worse than they sound.
