CW meta [for abled folks, whites (like me)]

We (abled people) finally managed to avoid shittiness to disabled people on here by insisting that *they* alt-text every image or media file. And it was good and peace followed.

If you can do that, then we (white people) can also avoid shittiness to racialized minorities by insisting that *they* Content Wrap their experience of racism.

Stop policing oppressed people's speech.

🧵

Hey, fellow white people. :boost_ok:

If someone who doesn't look like you tells you something about the world or people that look like you that sucks, and it's not something you've experienced or done to anyone?

Instead of saying literally anything at all and/or instead of posting, close your mouth and/or step away from the keyboard, then open your mind to the possibility that you're not the main character of Earth: The Movie.

Only by recognizing how the world sucks can we work together to rebuild the world into one that sucks less. And that starts by listening to the people who are telling you how the world sucks for them.

US Judge rules LGBTQ not protected from discrimination in healthcare

US District judge in Texas rules that #LGBTQ persons are not protected from discrimination in #healthcare, based on a reading of section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act ("on the basis of sex" is the text). Biden admin interpreted this as including sexual orientation and gender identity; judge struck that down reuters.com/legal/us-judge-rej

@deejvalen micro cuties teasing you while they're stuffed between your boobs~

If I were to run a Mastodon (or equivalent) instance just for hosting comic artists and their series, would you join it? And if so, what could you pay to support it? Multiple tiers, of course.

Expect special features just for comic artists, such as a specialized posting UX.

Boosts appreciated!

Welcome to Mastodon: the decentralised federated transing machine that transes your gender

Valve's very clear patch notes for Steam Deck / SteamOS updates put other vendors to shame who put things like "improves system performance" or "system stability improvements" with no actual details on what changed.

deviantart AI art summary (2/2)

- they are also releasing an AI art generator that is either "stable diffusion" or "based on stable diffusion" depending on where you look
- they are *not* feeding your deviations into it, regardless of the opt-out
- stable diffusion was however trained on art from deviantart, among others
- it's likely that future stable diffusion models will honor the opt out but nothing much can be done about the current one

deviantart AI art summary (1/2)

- they're adding a box to signal that your work should not be used to train art machines. note that there's no way to enforce that
- the box has to be checked per deviation, which blows

DeviantArt is adding a new feature where your art can be authorized for inclusion in 3rd-party datasets... but it is enabled by default, and you have to manually turn it off for every individual deviation of yours in order to fully opt out.

I don't have the spoons to do that for 179 deviations, and I don't really use my DA account anyways, so I just deleted it.
