Friends, I IMPLORE you, please stop blaming users for flocking to the larger Mastodon instances. There are UX challenges with onboarding to Mastodon, and the benefits of signing up for smaller instances are neither straightforward nor clear. Blaming new users excludes them from the community and promotes toxic discourse.

They are unwilling to understand that they have created a cop-friendly space (there are actual police officers on that instance) and that this is at odds with the safety of queer people and other minorities

Scholar will be suspending that instance and recommending that others do so as well

The new web interface includes a footer link to "Get the app", which leads to a page that heavily emphasizes the first-party Mastodon apps.

As a reminder, the first-party apps are intentionally missing core functionality (Local/Federated timelines, "unlisted" post privacy), and are a very poor user experience compared to third-party offerings.
