I had never read a Tommy and Tuppance tale but decieed to start and overall it is very fun. A bit flawed and not the best but fun.

Learning this was Agatha Christie's second book after Myterious Affair at Styles was interesting as well as illuminating.

I dont understand this joke. It feels like such a rote joke that I have seen a billion times. I dont understand the humor of it. I am not sure I ever want to understand it.

I think its a comment of how there are so many options for coffee these days and thats a sign of a spoiled society and part of that old "return to simpler times" but... honestly I dont know?

Also why is it ALWAYS a woman at the cash register taking the order is that part of the joke?

Maybe I am the one at fault here. I came into The Hollow with a bias and its coloring my reaction. At the same time the social tension in the work and how these men are oblivious to all the effort these women engage in for their comfort is so EXHAUSTING

What impressed me the most with Chopping Spree is how it is a meditation on how materialism infects and undercuts society. If not for the greed and need of affirmation via expensive stuff a terrible series of crimes would never be committed.

The fact it loops back into how Goldy throughout the book keeps trying to justify buying exepnsive stuff she really can't afford to buy her son's love is just well done.
