I do begrudge some people for choosing to move when they have other options and buying into this nonsense and their moving there being used as further propaganda to support the outlook. If that makes any sense.

@artfulreggie Yeah I see your point. Aware in the sense that they know something nebulously "bad" happens to other people and not being aware it will impact them because they're not exceptional.

I don't know if it is so much the zero-sum aspect so much as believing they are obviously the "winners"

I started reading a book and realized the author and I wouldn't agree on ANYTHING. That can be fine, you can't agree with everyone but I realized the core of their humor and this major character was just going to rub me the wrong way when they parked their time machine in a handicap parking space and said it was "appropriate" as the space was nearly always empty.
