My big issue with how people compare the 1918 flu pandemic and COVID is the compression of time. The 1918 pandemic rebounded for over a decade infecting communities. The changes people laud (like improved ventilation and public health) came after several decades of concerted effort. There were hoards of vaccine and plague deniers in 1918 and some of them (Harding in the USA) rose to power due to it.
I am not saying comparison isnt apt. Just saying the 1918 pandemic had decades of known impact

Wheel of Time is an interesting read. I still find it flawed but its core ideas of underestimating people, how information travels/becomes confused, and the way cultures misunderstand each other is ambitious. I think the books largely stick the landing there

For all the new NSFW artists coming to Mastodon. Remember being elaborate on your content warnings. "NSFW" is just not enough for kinky fetish stuff. Put all of it in the content warnings to prevent unpleasant surprises for other people. Not only helps that filter what people not like, it also helps others who like that stuff find your works.
Guys, maybe just maybe, werewolf the apoclaypse was a delightful and dumb trashfire and trying to change a core setting aspect undercuts the point of the entire game
