Spent the day hanging out with my aunt, who was just finishing up a big European trip. It was a pretty good day!
Right up until, in the intermission of the play we were seeing, she started talking about how much she loves Jordan Peterson, listens to all his podcasts, and I should too.
Damn. It's always so easy to think that the poison isn't in *your* backyard, y'know? But it is. Fuckin old white people just love to hear how Free Speech is the most important thing, and PC = bad

@fineursine it's a weird-ass thing with non-Americans, people who will excoriate the US president specifically, and then espouse the exact same shit that got him in.
I don't know if that's better or worse than having family who vote for him. I guess it's just different. Certainly tiring, if nothing else.

And here I was thinking the most awkward parts of the day were going to be when she gushed about the Queen, or commented that she hated to see beggars with dogs because "that must be a really bad life - for the dog".
Honestly, this reminds me of the time I found out a girl I dated for a week was shockingly racist. The signs were there the whole time, I just kept giving her the benefit of the doubt until I reached a point where that was no longer possible
