My point was that if white folks aren't aware that cops and friends of cops get away with Some Shit, they're willfully ignoring a lot. My brother in law mentioned once how some dudes he worked with in a particularly gross rural area used to brag about spousal abuse. ACAB.

@fineursine I've known enough cops to know that 'cops are corrupt and the system sucks' shouldn't be a surprise to even white people who are paying attention. In the precinct over from us there is a dude who specifically responds to local DUIs perpetrated by his buds to make sure no one gets their hand slapped. Even DUIs involving accidents. A sheriffs dispatcher hit and permanently disabled my HS biology teacher while drunk - got a hand slap.

@fineursine it was like 2200, which is far enough under the car's resale value that it was worth it and while it puts a dent in my savings, it's not as bad as it could be.

@angrboda it did make me aware of the fact that I'm actually real attached to my car and when it finally does go I'm definitely gonna cry, haha

The mechanic started the phone call with 'how much do you love your car', which is never good, but it wasn't a ton more than I was expecting to shell out for other issues. It sucks but if it keeps the Corolla on the road for 3-4 more years I'm happy w/ that.
