@Soreth I got a present wrapped in that stuff earlier this week, and it was an experience, haha. At least they'll look pretty!

@Fringecrow haha, it's one of those plastic cars you can ride in and push with your feet for my niece. A last minute addition to her Xmas presents!

Update - almost half of the presents are wrapped including this Extremely Big Boy

@Mobius I'm trying to nudge him towards here but it's hard to sever the instant gratification link twitter has, and he's been using it as a coping mechanism for long enough that it's very hard to switch gears

@smallesttiger @Antifreeze cinnamon and sugar, clearly

(extremely good on toast or apples)

Depression

@angrboda it never matters how much stuff I do or try if some fifteen year old piece of shit has tweeted a mean thing. I can't compete with the ocean of human waste on there.

Stress

I wish I could nuke twitter from orbit. The fact that terry still uses it so obsessively and allows it to determine his headspace is such an incredible thorn and I just want to be done with this.

@kotep yeah.... I host thanksgiving for my whole fam and I'm very cognizant of the fact that I have to buy all the holiday specific foods a week in advance

Going to target on December 21st was A Choice, haha. Kind of unavoidable though - god bless the staff who are super patient today.

Blind bags or trading card booster packs are great stocking stuffers because they are the gift of *anticipation*

@angrboda getting little stuff is imo the most fun. Abe usually gets a tide stain stick in his stocking and some MTG cards, haha

Xmas present spoilers

I'm going shopping tonight to get stuff for my husband's stocking and thinking about what to get has really made me happy this morning, haha

@Antifreeze haha, thank you. Terry and Abe said the same thing.

Anyway, on a lighter note I had my review at work and it was really positive. My team leader put in for a big raise for me in the budget so fingers crossed.

Pol, self harm

Yo if you're not aware I've spent the past year+ trying to stop my husband from killing himself because of the incredible psychological damage of the news cycle. This casts an incredibly huge shadow over every discussion I have about politics or social media.

I'm aware of how stupid and privileged it seems to want folks to stop being alarmist or to stop obsessively circulating stuff that's terrifying, but that's where I'm at.

@tfproxy yeah; I'm curious when people will stop seeing the value in spreading the pain around and making other folks feel more hopeless constantly. I guess it gets clicks, idk.

Pol

@Fuego it's still positioning the problem as generational which imo is a canard that is being used to draw attention away from income inequality. Oligarchs know how tempting it is for us to hate our parents and we are getting played.

Pol

@Fuego every time we try to frame this argument as 'fuck the boomers, actually' we get them to tune out more and more. It's rich people and their worshippers / apologists who fucked us - and there's plenty of millennials in those ranks.
