birdsite API nostalgia
@chimericalgirls haha, but thanks for caring!! I'm sure somebody will make a good one soon!
(boosts ok) instance info request, disability
are there instances that specifically, in their rules, name "ableism" as a thing they disallow? disabled voices being involved in moderation are also a bonus.
to be clear, we do NOT mean any instance that uses a catch-all and includes ableism in that catch-all. forex "we don't allow racism, transphobia, etc" is not helpful in this request.
@lindseyb yay welcome back
rust
If you have a few minutes, it would be awesome if you would fill out the "2018 State of Rust Language Survey", whether or not you actually use/used rust this year:

(boosts appreciated)
@maloki right - it's mostly the pre-curated "just don't worry about these accounts" convenience I guess. Also, instance mods can silence/block whole other networks which surely helps!
"The Tyranny of Structurelessness" by Jo Freeman should be required reading before setting up an instance of some decentralized platform for others

@chimericalgirls oho, which server thing did you use?
Good news

PSA for people who #code:
Looking stuff up does NOT make you bad at coding.
"Not having to look up stuff" is NOT the benchmark for a good coder, especially as coders have to look up stuff ALL THE TIME!
And I don't mean highly advanced stuff, but stuff like "How does division work again?" or "What's that function called?" or my personal favorite "How to I nest for loops in list comprehensions?".
It's ok if you have to look up stuff!
Aaah, I've moved over to another mastodon account! Follow me on @antifuchs!
