@LionsPhil Yes! It so happens that's one of the best monospace fonts out there, too, in terms of legibility. Just be aware that a few codepoints have been furrified, so if you see a paw print now and then, don't be surprised. :)

@orrery I guess I'm not clear on how this argument differs from any other form of API whose ends are owned by different teams?
(If anything, protobufs allow the API to keep evolving and compatibility to be preserved even if either the client or the server's release schedule is lagging behind, that's kinda the point.)
