#introduction
Hi y'all, @batbeeps here.
Olive is my other half (in a plural system sense, not a relationship sense) and, well, they wanted their own Mastodon profile. So here it is.
Olive is largely, but not entirely, non-vocal. Toots from them will only occasionally contain words, largely consisting of actions, emojis, images, and sounds.
No promises on how often this will get updated, as Olive's ability and willingness to front can fluctuate a bit too.
Stay fresh, y'all 💜
Goddamn the moment they ignite the SRBs and she just fucking FLIES god I love it 💚💚💚 #Artemis1
@astra she/her like a spacecraft
@chiropica Shame there’s no domain like eeeeee.eeeeee
I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this somewhen in the past, but Adobe Fonts, plz, tell me what OpenType features you have. (You too, Google Fonts.)
@megaRammy People who say Safari is as bad as IE, they know nothing of my pain. NOTHING.
It's not fully fledged, by any means. We've done what was required for our existing components and for future-proofing.
Unfortunately things like full RTL language support (which I'd have *loved* to do) hit the cutting room floor early on.
Oh, and also it had to work in a way that's backwards compatible with hundreds of existing http://GOV.UK services (some of them partially translated), be WCAG 2.1 AA compilant, and… most painfully of all, it even works in Internet Explorer 8.
"Big whoop," you may think, "you just replaced hardcoded strings with variables."
In some cases, yes. In others, we had to work around hardcoded string interpolation, devise methods of swapping out strings based on other variables, standardise new APIs to do all this with...
Not too often I post about work, but a piece of work I’ve been involved in for most of this year has finally been released: You can now translate every single text string in the http://GOV.UK Design System. All of ‘em!

@astra or write to yourselves! as is also often the case in our system :>
