Boy I went on a journey of Not Getting The Point here, despite The Point slapping me in my pocket every few seconds: THE NEWBIES ARE SIGNING UP WITH THEIR REAL ACTUAL FULL HUMAN NAMES.

*That's* why I'm seeing so many people do things that to me seem bizarre. It's because I'm used to interacting with raccoons, crows, witches, impossible geometric shapes, inflatable coatis and the anthropomorphic personification of paint smell

The preview of new TweetDeck totally misses one of the benefits of TweetDeck, which is being able to show feeds from multiple accounts in one view—making you need to switch between accounts manually, like the regular Twitter website. Avoid.

Continuing my reign of tyranny of being an unapologetic weirdo in work Slack.

Given the… greater incentive to use Mastodon as of late, I’ve ended up in a somewhat happy medium using Mastonaut on Mac and Toot! on iPhone/iPad.

It’d be nice if you could pile multiple account’s home timelines on one screen (ala TweetDeck, Tweetbot)!

I signed up for Cohost, not as yet-another-Twitter-replacement, but because I wanna write posts with custom CSS actually.

Vaguely tempted to write my own Mastodon/Twitter crossposter so that I can also have a self-hosted archive of all my amazing takes and opinions.

The most important thing for new people to understand about mastodon is that etymologically it means “boob tooth”

now more than ever I'm proud to have played a part in standardizing the official Trans Furry Network Protocol (ActivityPub for short)

Great British Bake Off should have a Bacon Week send toot

I really gotta finish writing that blog post on using user stylesheets in 2022. They're still so useful!

I wonder if we dramatically overestimate the number of people who understand that websites come from software that runs on computers.

I recently had a conversation with someone my same age, with a very similar childhood and level of education, about my day job, and they were amazed to learn that the Internet was specifically a way for computers to communicate with each other, which replaced their previous vague understanding of it as a gestalt from which web services were provided fully formed.

How to migrate from one Mastodon server to another without losing followers:

1. Sign up on new server
2. On NEW server: Go to Account -> Moving FROM another account
3. Enter old account's handle
4. On OLD server: Go to Account -> Moving TO another account
5. Enter new account's handle and submit

An #introduction / #reintroduction given the previous one was out of date.

Hello world, I'm beeps. I'm a trans agender (it/its), asexual, furry, and robotkin, normally (but not always) represented online as a robotic bat. I'm the core of a system that also includes Olive.

Olive is non-binary (they/she), also asexual, and represented online as a plushie squirrel suit. Olive, whilst not entirely nonvocal, doesn't speak often, so you probably won't hear from them much.

Together, we work as a front-end developer for the British government and smooch @taylor twice as much as is necessary.

If we did like, furry Twitter, a particular feature that'd need to exist is like... Google+ circles. One account, separate general/vent/AD feeds, follow lists and privacy rules. That'd be smart, IMO.

I wrote a big long blog post about my potentially plural experiences and what I've been doing about them. beeps-bot.tumblr.com/post/6992
