Are there any clients which hook into both mastodon and birbsite, the same way that Pidgin/Trillian/Adium/etc once centralized a farflung diaspora of IM accounts?
Next question: Are there any good Mastodon clients period? Amaroq >> Mustor for me but I’m still sort of limping through mobile, and haven’t stumbled on a decent desktop client yet.
@baxil Also idk about other platforms but there is at least one universal windows platform mastodon app
@masklayer I’m stuck in the Apple mobile ecosystem due to work but I’ll file that away for if I get the chance to switch!
@baxil Ah yeah ok good luck, I don't really know much about using masto on iOS...
@baxil May be obvious/maybe this doesn't work well on iOS but have you tried just adding the web app to your home screen via the share menu? Imo at least on android the best ux is still just the web app for most stuff...
@baxil I think pretty much all the clients are mobile. I know there is at least one that can deal with birbsite as well as toot-town, but I dunno which one it is.
Personally I gave up on clients and just told ios to save dragon.style to my homescreen. This is not without its problems, it tends to lose all state when I switch away (which makes flipping over to safari to grab a link to something A HASSLE) but it's no more or less a compromise than any app I've found.
@baxil https://github.com/tootsuite/documentation/blob/master/Using-Mastodon/Apps.md is the Official App List, which does list a FEW desktop clients.
@baxil
Everyone's already chimed in on Twidere for mobile, which I also use.
For desktop, though, lately I've been using a thing called Rambox ( http://rambox.pro ) which is largely just a wrapper for loading the web clients of multiple things at once /and/ keeping your logins straight. Right now I have Slack, Discord, Tweetdeck and two Masto accounts set up in it, and it's been pretty smooth for the most part.
There's another one or two like that, that I can't recall the name of.
@baxil Twidere on android is all I know of (works with both twitter and masto, good for cropssposting, but nowadays a little buggy)
