@Alamantus@cybre.space When explaining "allophones" to native English-speaking students, I sometimes have them pronounce "cot" then "key" until they feel that the /k/ is produced in different spots on the roof of the mouth, with a difference in aspiration. Always good for a lightbulb-moment of understanding.
@fireh9lly I'm glad he was receptive. As a team name, I think it would prompt many players to look for racial/gender meaning that the dev doesn't intend. He's lucky he had you to give him the benefit of the doubt so he could change it before it became a thing.
@fireh9lly If they've used the word (irl or as character dialogue) and seem unaware, I would say you're doing them a favor. I don't think I ever hear the word any more outside of the contexts of racism and misogyny.
@0x1f415 I've heard that this can happen when someone you follow boosts, then unboosts, that toot.
@ThatDamnCat @raccoon Just an hour or two ago I think!
bathroom story. cat. not lewd. not gross.
When we adopted our black cat Lilah, she didn't show herself almost at all during the day, in part because of the dog. But in the night if I rose to pee, she would emerge from the darkness and slip into the bathroom for love. We called it Special Bathroom Time. Years later, she moves freely and seeks love whenever. Special Bathroom Time remains an infrequent but treasured wee-hours ritual.
