Anyway I might be able to get my hands on one of those tetrahedral mic arrays. The response of the array gives you a set of channels you can use to orient the sound field in any direction around the listener.

@InTheLandOfTheRisingSun it was invented in the 70s, but people are using it more lately, because it's ideal for VR.
