idk life sucks pretty ass for anyone with a chronic illness. 

thinking about all the gofundmes for insulin, a drug purposefully developed to be easy and cheap to make so it would take next to nothing to produce in order to make sure anybody would be able to afford it to survive, being short by just a little of their several hundred dollar goals. to get a medicine that costs pennies per ounce to create.

also funny that i don't have the money to pay for my health insurance but if i don't i die lol.

also the difference in picture i notice with different av1 software renderering schemes seems to have a lot to do with losing static hdr10(+) metadata in pipelines

so rav1e converts mastering-display information in to floats and that conversion makes those data relatively inscrutable to ffprobe.

honestly, i don't know who to bug here.

This is a long shot but I'll throw this out here anyway.

I've been looking for a job for over a year and a half and the only employer I've found that would take me in has been Diddly-Squat, Inc. Obviously the pay sucks, and I'm still looking so we can have three incomes around here and have a few luxuries like "unprocessed food" and "clothes that fit without holes."

If you know ANYONE who is hiring remote and pays $15/hr or more I'll take it. My only hard requirement is that it has to be suitable for an autistic ambivert with anxiety (for example, no call centre shit).

My main specialty is sysadmin and programming but I'll do just about anything at this point.

it feels the fancy hdr dynamic metadata systems are about getting acceptable output on cheap displays as much as anything else.

i mean, that's good for schmucks like me, but it's the kind of thing that is pushed the capitalist drive to make the cheapest thing that will still sell.

so... in addition to all the other difficulties in using av1, there doesn't seem to be a standardized way to include hdr10+ or dolby vision.

i mean i don't even have a display that will utilize those streams, but i still want the data.

I’m starting to realise “everyone ought to know how to” really annoys me as a type of opinion. On fedi it’s usually “program” of “repair appliances”, which doesn’t help, but on a visceral level I think I spent too much of my childhood hearing about all the things I ought to be able to do but couldn’t,
