Also um, they tried to make the Frankenstein monster a tragically sympathetic character after literally about 45 minutes of learning that it couldn’t be bargained with, couldn’t be reasoned with, didn’t feel pity or remorse and would not stop - ever! - until it’d killed off the heroine. The abrupt and unconvincing tonal shift contributed to the overall ridiculous feel of this movie!

@Leucrotta Hm. In the book you learn pretty much on their first encounter the bond between the girl and the monster. I can understand film needing different pacing, but for that to come out of nowhere /would/ be pretty jarring.
