Steven Universe Finale (cw: spoilers, personal, past transphobia) [1/3]
Finally saw it last night.
So Steven Universe is a trans man. …makes perfect sense.
The final episode triggered me; I was a sobbing wreck for like an hour, but I think it was a cathartic kind of thing. It just put me back in my teenage mind when my parents were trying to disown me and I ended up homeless for a while 'cause none of my friends could or would take me in.

In context from the last ep, the previous two episodes became so obvious: deadnaming, performing in the role your parent figures expect of you… maybe even being good enough at it to make them happy, which would feel good if it didn't feel so **WRONG** inside?
That crippling feeling of powerlessness when trying to battle against authoritative family members was so perfectly illustrated by the height differences...

And then of course when they finally start to accept him… and it starts a war in the family…
Gods. Now I'm crying all over again.
I feel so validated, and so seen, and at the same time so very very sad that so many others have been through similar trauma.
I'm absolutely convinced there could not have been a better way to end that incredible show.
