@photex for both things a good starting point is to give everything its own little place in the audio spectrum. Notch EQ is the most powerful mixing tip that I can share.
re: A terrible idea for an ironic hentai that I came up with back in grad school
@hyratel yeah that was the idea I had in mind for it, but I only ever wrote like one scene and I don't even remember where my notes are, they were probably on a laptop that got stolen back in 2001
@photex In a realtime context or an audio production/recording context? For the latter I have a bunch of quick shortcuts to achieving crushing adequacy which I should probably write up someday.
@photex or a hackernews for actual programming and not endless pontificating about whatever it is they talk about on HN
right now a big part of my pain is actually coming from my big toes and I think that some EDS toe splints might be called for. Anyone have recommendations?
@emmy There's more to the leave than just pain, and my employer is very understanding about the complex issues which led to this.
@emmy yeah I definitely feel better when I've been playing DDR regularly. And it's also fun to stream it, and since I'm on disability leave right now I wouldn't mind building up an audience with maybe the chance of having another source of income when I inevitably decide not to go back
although if I could just find my damn knee braces I'll probably be fine
I really should finish unpacking one of these days
so hey lately I've come to realize I probably have some form of EDS, given that a lot of my pain problems seem to be associated with always hyperextending joints and all my life my kneecaps have had a tendency to pop out of their joints a little bit
so maybe DDR isn't the best game for me to play
(I haven't played it much lately because it just like... hurts my knees too much, and my doctor said I should probably stop)
A terrible idea for an ironic hentai that I came up with back in grad school
back in grad school I had an idea for an ironic hentai where the tentacle monster had erectile dysfunction
The premise was that this horrific demon was captured and placed under a containment spell for thousands of years, and the crate he was in was lost and misfiled. Eventually it turned up in a lost and found and a curious person opened it up, releasing him onto a new world he no longer knew.
So he became an accountant.
And then the recurring joke would be that he'd have an opportunity to do the thing that tentacle monsters do, but then he'd go flaccid and then he'd have like this big tangled mass of tentacle-dicks limp on the floor and he'd just like... shuffle off, downtrodden, dicks dragging behind him.
@nolan ah and I see svelte is one of the topics of conversation on that podcast episode
@nolan although I'd still just like. prefer people to make websites that are websites and not "apps"
@nolan Along those lines I like the idea of Svelte, which is a node.js framework for server-side rendering that provides client-side SPA flow as an addition (rather than a requirement)
