uspol, immigration, "the 1000 missing kids"
This breaks that "ORR lost 1000 kids" story down wonderfully: https://twitter.com/jduffyrice/status/1000927903759110144
Stop spreading your bullshit just because you score political points for it.
tl;dr they are with family or at shelters, not "MISSING"

kitten antics, food
it's frickin adorable but damn, this kitten has some kind of cold fusion power plant or something. MUST GET CURRY
kitten antics, food
Razi is SO. DETERMINED. to investigate my curry, he's been jumping up on my desk and being (gently) dropped on the floor for about ten minutes now. he's *tired*, he's gotten to the point where when he sits down his eyes start sliding closed and he wobbles a bit, but then he is reminded that my food exists and DETERMINATION RETURNS.
Someone figured out how to take violence completely out of a monster raising game while still having conflict

I want a series of Fred Rogers for President campaign ads. The Cabinet is sitting in the President's briefing room, outlining today's crises and concluding with a plea: "Mr. President, what do we do?" Everyone turns to the head of the table where an old TV and VCR turn on, and as the CRT warms up the VCR fast-forwards to a clip from "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" that covers exactly this situation. In one corner a general starts quietly weeping tears of joy, realizing that sharing is an option…
oh hey this is familiar http://wondermark.com/c1404/
confusing dreams with real life
I was on an airplane where they gave the passengers tablets for an animated test/quiz to select "captains," who would sit in the first class area and be responsible for passenger safety in emergencies. the test involved identifying swimming koi, complicated math problems, and identifying sarcasm.
confusing dreams with real life
the city was half in ruins, from whatever disaster had hit a year or so ago, but there was a lot of rebuilding going on. it was an odd city--lots of solar panels, including massive sails of them, as tall as the skyscrapers, constructed between buildings (because THAT MAKES SENSE FOR SOLAR PANELS OBVIOUSLY), and *many* abandoned buildings/areas that seemed to have been overgrown for decades.
confusing dreams with real life
there were lots of foxes in the trees, kinda fluffy-looking foxes that "sang" like squirrels, *lots* of foxes--like one or two in each tree--that coursed along the branches like an orange and white river along an oak branch that had grown through a broken window into their den inside a long-abandoned airport terminal, and all I can think was "I've *gotta* post about this on Masto!"
also I believe I just saw a Cooper's hawk swoop past my window, possibly missing a grab at another bird. I heard the "snap" of a quick-flapping wing and saw it glide past; about the size of a crow, but identifiably brown. pretty sure that'd be one of the parents, shopping for lunch for the kids they've got nesting close by again this summer. yay! :D
meet the newest member of the family, on his first full day at home! Raziel came from PAWS, is 2 months old, likes exploring, playing, cuddles, exploring, sleeping, cuddles, playing, food, and exploring, and purrs like a buzzsaw on overdrive. he's just over 2 lbs, has a vet appointment on Friday (but is in excellent health), and his markings remind me very much of a spotted skunk.
lame pride joke
amazing, an explanation of the colors on the pride flag
