of course he brought up Elon Musk and "nesting realities" quantum quantum the Matrix quantum
and then he started burbling about Doctor Who and I wasn't gonna let *that* stand. of course when I corrected him he completely ignored me and went back to conspiracy theory "fun facts"
and now he's burbling about misunderstanding quantum physics. *sigh*
I legit have no idea what he's talking about. "coriolis effect doesn't exist" "yet it's taught in schools and can't be found by any gyroscope yet taught to effect and be found by gyroscopes" wat
wow, there's a guy in the WoW guild chat banging away about "the mandela effect" and how it's a conspiracy for ??? and it's so hard to find "real evidence" and ??? and. wow. it's kind of fascinating to watch, but also kind of sad.

a) Optimistic Scifi continued throughout the mainstream media during the peak of the cyberpunk movement.
b) Cyberpunk at its genesis & its core was prophetic, not a 'promise'.
It was "Stop f*ing the world up or this will happen to our kids", not "Hey kids, guess what you've got to look forward to".

otoh I'm kind of glad that pTerry died when he did--before the Brexit nonsense, and Trump. I like to think that he died when the world was a more hopeful place, and he didn't have to deal with all the crap we're slogging through now. :|
I'm pretty sure that I grieved more deeply for Douglas Adams than I will when I find out that my biodad is dead. I still miss DA, and still wish that he was around.
