hmm. the crow family is behaving as if something in this area--the area of my porch, and the grass/tree area around it--frightened them; they're being a lot more wary and avoidant than they were a few days ago. I would attribute this to the loss of one of their fledglings, except that happened over a week ago, and they were behaving just as usual then. I wish I could ask them--or better still, convince them that my porch and Cheerios/peanuts are still safe. :\

I figured I'd post about it here (while also hitting Google with a stick repeatedly) in case somebody will say "oh yeah that's [thing]!" :P

I could *swear* I've seen a painting of this creature; it's looking at the viewer, and it looks--calm, kind of sad; the painting is in muddy earth tones; it might have stars in its crown. there's a Biblical association in my head, but I have no idea if it's a monster from the Bible?

I'm re-reading "Book of the New Sun," and at one point a monster is described in a dream: "a great, leather-winged being"--"her beak was the beak of an ibis, her face that of a hag; on her head was a miter (crown) of bone." I can't figure out what this thing is and IT IS AGGRAVATING ME.

on the other claw, the crows were back today! I don't know if the parents took a vacation or were just hanging out in a different area of their territory or what? but it seems like the family is back together, happily scarfling Cheerios off the porch railing.

something I am allergic to is blooming and large sections of my epidermis itch again today. I'm glad I got the giant tube of Benadryl last time this happened...

I was just part of a huge WoW Dalaran mammoth parade that wound around the main square and then off the flight platform. fortunately there was water below. and SO MANY MAMMOTHS. AND MORE FALLING FROM THE SKY ON A REGULAR BASIS. I have not LOLed that hard in *days*. I have no idea why it was so hilarious but damn, it was.

Nar has had pets and is now reassured, and has ascended to his usual perch on the cat tree next to my desk, from which he is blinking slowly at me. all is well. ^___^

ah. I forgot that they were testing the alarm system in the apartments today. Pooka was alarmed in return, and is now slowly stalking around the apartment, presumably to make sure that it hasn't been invaded by monsters. Nar, on the other hand, evaporated. oh... he just came into the office, walking *very slowly and carefully* and checking cautiously around every corner.

nar is curled up in a sunbeam and making the *happiest kitty faces* at me. my heart is melting. (I might be biased)

I think the crow fledgling has been "weaned"--the parents don't seem to be around any more, so it's been mooching around their territory making sad "feed me?" kazoo noises and trying to figure out how to food. XD
