Anyone point me towards #photography #landscape people?
"Wait, I missed it," he says, "show me again."
I sigh inwardly, but do as he asks. Hands so, interleave fingers in fabric of reality, twist so and so. Time stops. He stares, frozen. Idiot. You can't see it, time's stopped. I stick a pretzel in his nose and release the flow.
"Ow!"

when making tonight's stoup I accidentally used some almond milk instead of chicken broth (they're both in boxes in the fridge). then there wasn't enough moisture after I finished off the broth so I added a can of diced tomatoes. I can definitely taste the tomatoes, they give it a nice tang, but I can't taste the almond milk at all. Spouse claims he can and that it adds a mild sweetness, but it's still very good. XD
volunteering, Seattle-area laptop donation request
the PAWS Wildlife Rehab baby bird crew needs a new laptop! well, it doesn't have to be *new*, it just needs to *work*. if you happen to have one sitting around that's collecting dust, let me know and I'll put you in touch with them. in exchange, I'll give you exciting stories (lol probably not) about feeding baby birds! well I'll give them anyway, but y'know. XD
volunteering stuff (very boring; minor change coming this spring)
the change this spring is that I'm going to join the baby bird team! because I haven't done it before, and I want to see what it's like. so I'll probably be feeding less baby squirrels, unless they have a major influx and need extra hands. should be interesting!
volunteering stuff (very boring; minor change coming this spring)
I didn't go to volunteering yesterday as I was Busy, but I did go last week, and held two mallards--one male, one female, at two different times. one was getting an exam, the other was being moved to a new enclosure. in the process I was thoroughly duck-nibbled, which for the record is negligible. it's like being gently patted. cute, but not an effective defense. XD
crowburbles
previously when I'd put out nuts I'd get mini-flocks of a half-dozen or so crows, and although they jostled to snatch nuts before other crows got them, they never tried to actually chase anybody away.
now I'm missing the coyotes again... I'd say there's probably some around, just not coming out in the open in daylight where I can see them, but I haven't been *hearing* them at night either. :|
crowburbles
I put out peanuts, and while I was out there two members of the Gang of Three chased away an interloper. that's the first time I've seen them do that during a peanut payout. as the GoT was gathering nuts, another crow (not sure if the same one they chased off earlier) tried to snag a nut and was chased away again. I suspect they're getting more territorial about food stations as nesting season approaches. it's neat to see their behavior change!
ICYMI: #Beebold!, my game about a kobold collecting bees and avoiding critters, is now avaiable at https://mischievess.itch.io/beebold !
It's free-to-play and runs in your browser, but you can support me using the red button below the game. :) #gamedev #gameing #gaming #kobolds #notGDCjam
crowsquee
Spouse spotted and alerted me to the Gang of Three (nearby mated pair and their last offspring from last season) hanging out by the back porch. all three of them were sitting together on a branch, and Spouse said they'd all been preening each other. I was so ensqueed by this I immediately set out peanuts, which they aren't taking as quickly as usual--possibly because it's raining, possibly they aren't as hungry, or ????crowreasons????
