that boost is why we need socialism that does not pit the working poor against the poor who can't meet social expectations
why we need unions, sure, but _more_ than just unions
and yes, why we need to be critical of past socialist theorists and willing to evolve, not just looking for an ideology off a shelf
the conflation of employment with virtue
I get it- people can't let themselves consider that random chance plays into who gets to stay on the knife's edge of employment and who falls into the abyss. Allowing those thoughts to creep in would keep them up at night.
It's still horrifying, though
as it turns out we are getting a ride to game so I have an extra hour to relax and attempt to cool off. *LOUNGING INTENSIFIES*
dumb poll im doing just because i have a dumb theory
hey this is literally one quick question no need to explain yourself just uh

on the upside that fantastic GF bakery was there again, and I got two pieces of coffee cake, one of lemon pound cake, and a mini carrot cupcake, all of which are FANTASTIC OMG. I love that bakery.
So it turns out 5th Doc Peter Davison wasn't being a shitty guy, the Telegraph just quoted him about 13 out of context.

The plot twist is that they are each actually three Thoths in a trenchcoat.
hmm. had tentative plan with Smol Fren (who is not on Mastodon afaik and is not any of y'all) to go to bird store today, but sent text ping a while ago and no response. Smol Fren has--strong reasons to be, shall we say, temperamentally flaky on engagements. but if no bird store then I need to hit Costco, and I'd like to be able to make plans for the day.
ah well...
@Curator@mastodon.art question, do you count writing (fanfic particularly) as #mastoart?
@alexandraerin is one of the few reasons I want to hold onto birdsite. I honestly think that threads like this will be referenced and possibly reproduced in full in future history books about the current US fauxministration. it's very long, but *very* good.

I really wish I could find either someone who is good at drawing maps and patient to deal with my ramblings, or a program that'd help me draw my own map...
of course if you go all the way up the hills you get to Nob Heights, the top ridge that used to be where the rich people had their houses. most of it is a national park/historical site nowdays. beautiful place, there's a specialized kite flying area with several stores nearby, and the view is *spectacular* in both directions, over the city and back inland. downside, it's *extremely windy* up there.
