For the sake of accuracy: there's a meme going around that as of 5 January 2018, the Berlin Wall has been down longer than it was up. That's not correct; the time between the start of its construction and the start of its destruction is 10315 days, and the time between the start of its destruction and 5 Jan 2018 is only 10284 days.
The real date is 5 FEBRUARY 2018. Just so you know. :)

there was also bits about driving around with my mom, getting errands done, and some other random stuff I don't remember well, because the albino ferret pretty much took up most of my dream-memory. because albino ferret! (it was *very* cute!)

I'd been considering taking it to a shelter or vet to see if I could get it to its proper owner, but on the tag it said "I have amnesia! If you have found this ferret, keep it! Please take care of ferret, I love it very much but I don't remember it any more!" o_____O by this time the ferret had integrated with the household to the extent that we were considering getting it a special litterbox, so I figured "welp, we have a ferret now."

for some reason I slept overnight on a park bench. (in the dream) despite expectations, it was actually quite comfortable, but when I woke up in the morning I had acquired an albino ferret, which seemed very attached to me. I brought it home, and it got along well with the Uncountable Cats (in my dreams I always live with an uncountable number of cats; when you think you know how many of them there are, there's always one *more*). I didn't notice until I got home that it had a collar!

There’s apparently a reliability bathtub curve for Mastodon instances. If it survived the first couple of months, it will survive the rest of the year. If it survived a year, it may only fall off if it’s a single-user instance or if there’s only a handful of users
The fediverse tends to self-select in that way

This shot could have been waaaay better, but there we go, heh.
Turned into a dirt track road and this jackal buzzard was just trying to take off with a rabbit roadkill. Startled by the car, it flew up and started slowly climbing while I scrambled for my camera, which was off and not set up or anything, so I just flicked it into auto to get a shot before it flew too far away.

it's just a tool. any tool can become a weapon in sufficiently motivated hands. any tool can be dramatically (and sometimes hilariously) misused, sometimes to create interesting or amusing things. it's not inherently bad, or inherently good. it's *just a tool*.
I will use CWs for:
1. things that are triggery for me personally
2. things that are common triggers, insofar as they are known to me
3. things that people ask me to use CWs for
4. really long posts (especially when there's a bunch of posts on the subject)
5. me being socially difficult (snarky/sarcastic/etc)
6. if I damn well feel like it
7. some jokes
I always endeavor to make the point of the CW as plain as possible, because otherwise it's kinda pointless to have one.
