@Siphonay@octodon.social @jk I find the situation with the Paris election kinda hilarious. The old health minister was backed by macron and there is another guy who they were trying to get to back out and refused, then people learned about the macron backed one.

Also, the guy they are trying to get to drop out gives a huge Moriarty villain vibe.

we got a grant to improve the celluloid nightmare and build a production copy for a university and make the whole thing open source.

The open source part was the plan all along, but we got to put a bit more into the grant application to pay for that bit.

So woo! Actually getting paid for something that I did that was actually somewhat interesting

Properly written unit tests save so much time.

Functional programming styles make unit testing much easier.

I can just run the test script and figure out what the big project refactoring I did broke, if it broke anything.

I am not sure why, but OOP is really hard for me, functional programming and recursion is much much easier.

I got an email addressing me as the main developer on a project that I had one pull request accepted on.
This is instead of any of the projects that I am the main author of.
It is asking me to star and contribute to another project.

Is this sort of spam normal for projects looking for contributors?

@ekaitz_zarraga that is the hope, but it is going slowly because we have way too many projects going on.

@ekaitz_zarraga yes, but we aren't very good at using it with aluminium. We have only successfully got a reasonable 2d cut out of it once.

Usually we use it with wood and mdf.

@zatnosk @ekaitz_zarraga it is probably important to know that the 'th' sound used in English is one of the hardest sounds for French people learning English to understand what is going on there.

That is very true
I don't know how much sense this will make if you don't know French, but it is an almost perfect example of French management from what I have seen.

@ekaitz_zarraga @zatnosk that fits with a lot of work I have seen from French institutions.

Which really confuses me, every French person I have met and worked with directly has been very competent, but somehow French institutions look like they are run by incompetent people.

I blame management.
