@gothangelic just walked in, held up a thing and said 'This is a woodcock'
That is all.
As a reminder, people are very different.
There are things that you think of as being absolutely essential to being a person that other people just don't have.
And there are things that you lack that other people consider absolutely essential to being a person.
This generally shows up in assumptions about what it means to be a person that we don't even realise we are making.
I have been dealing with both sides of this a lot lately.
Empathy and rambling and something
I really don't like the idea that I may have a better understanding of empathy than some other people because I am so often bad at it.
But then I keep seeing people having trouble with the idea that there may be someone out there that is different than they are and just can't seem to process the idea.
I always feel incredibly arrogant when I say things like that.
@inmysocks This is true for all social communication, not just Mastodon. I feel like that's a point that lots of people are missing.
Privacy guidelines that you have no reason to follow
Is it something like kink that you don't want to scream about in public but isn't all that important to keep secret? Mastodon is ok
Political dissent in places where it is banned? FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK NOT ON MASTODON
Something that may get you fired? Probably not mastodon. How lucky do you feel/How nosy is your work?
I don't exist!
I may be the same inmysocks you see on mastodon.social.... Maybe.
Whatever pronouns you feel like? I would be amused if you alternated.
