It’s a beautiful day to be Black.

While part of me looks at the BLM mural in front of Trump Tower and thinks YEAH EAT IT TRUMP
Part of me thinks this is politicizing the movement in the wrong way. It's not about saving black lives or advocating systemic changes
It's just trying to piss off a bunch of MAGAs

I am so tired of seeing that poorly edited white supremacist version of this art spread around again. It's fucking awful seeing that message attached to my character
I would like to see this message get more visibility
#TransRightsAreHumanRights

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! Serials will resume this August! I'm taking suggestions for the welcome back serial -- five parts of 2K - 2.5K each, for a total of 10K - 12.5K. What should I write about, friends???

y'all there's legit a god of male love in Chinese myth, Tu'er Shen (the Rabbit God). he got beat to death for thirsting after a handsome official but the underworld guards were like "u know what? ur crime was one of love, go back up and become a patron deity of men who love men."

it's easy to think of Ayn Rand as a terrible person with an evil philosophy, but if you've ever read her books you'd know she was also a terrible writer.

This narrative that black people who want an accurate reflection of history are "angry and resentful" leaves us with one logical takeaway:
White people don't want to know history because they can't handle the truth.
A thread.

It truly breaks my heart that this was the Presidential address during a pandemic, while millions of Americans are out of work, on stolen Indigenous land, without regard for the safety of the crowd or parched environment.
Our worst selves, right here.

We can have faith in our beliefs, but also knowledge of our own imperfect selves and mistakes. We can own up. We can be better. We can change what we say and what we do because we know better. Both as people, and as a country.
Let's do that now. Together. Happy 4th.
And being humble means we recognize our own flaws and limitations. Even among progressives.
We can't let the fact that we're fighting for a good cause blind us to the ways we can be cruel, or the limits of our own beliefs. We can be wrong. We have been wrong. We will be wrong.
But we have to be willing to face hard truths, make sacrifices, and commit to doing things that might be difficult for us.
Our ideals demand that we look outside ourselves and know we're not the only people in the world.
Being patriotic means being humble, having perspective.
We can reconcile our painful and unjust past, reckon with the systemic barriers it has placed on people of color, disabled Americans, LGBQTIA Americans, and do the hard work required to truly understand how to make a society in which all people are created equal.
