I've mostly just been an online person so I haven't really done much about my physical appearance in quite a bit and it's kind of hitting me after getting misgendered at PAX a bunch and a few times at restaurants this week

I know the "correct" response is that people should do better, but I guess I kind of feel like I should do myself a favor and take care of myself a bit more again.

and yes, this was brought to you by someone getting an 18:40 in a speedrun, and saying it was "18:1x pace" :P

Comparing against your sum of best is a useful tool when you're looking at "how far off am I from the best I've ever done?" and there's useful information to be gained there, but if you're not at the point where the run is frame perfect like SMB1, that mindset is gonna hurt you lol

Gotta love those people who look at their sum of best like it's something they'll actually achieve fully in one run eventually.

After so long of "hey our financials aren't great," it's still kind of wild to see the actual shutdown on the horizon. From a mostly-outside observer perspective it felt like it kept going way longer than I expected it to.

I didn't really use cohost and pretty much always felt more comfortable here, but I'm definitely bummed for the folks who liked it a lot. It definitely seemed like the sort of "if this clicks with you, it really clicks with you" place so I can absolutely imagine how painful it'd be to see go for folks that vibed with it.

I storytold a bunch of games tonight and it was really fun! It was really fun picking out characters from a script and thinking about how they interact, and then seeing how it'd play out.

I really thoroughly enjoy being in a sort of GMing/storytelling position for this game and look forward to running more games :)

I actually managed to do this with cocoron which was kind of wild, considering that game was made like 30 years ago and we speak different languages

but if social media let me do one thing, it's tell someone who made a game 30 years ago and speaks a different language "hey, you did a cool thing and I appreciate it even 30 years later :)"

one of my favorite things is being able to tell someone who made something I like "hey, I like the thing you made!"

doing some more battle of olympus runs with infinite olives - no mic tho, my voice is shot from PAX yesterday lmao

I dropped by PAX yesterday and it was a lot of fun! I met some folks from the Beastieball crew and got to gush to them about how excited I am about the game to come out and got some fun candid conversation about them also being excited to not have to keep everything secret anymore, hah

I also played a couple of in-person games of blood on the clocktower! I pulled a good token both times, and the good team won one of 'em, and the evil team won the other. I was pretty helpful in both games and they wound up both being pretty fun stories, and it was really fun to meet all of the people who played, and everyone was a good sport about everything so it was all a super fun experience.

there were a bunch of other neat booths and stuff, but... those were the main two reasons I was excited to go so they were definitely my main focus :P

Also, tonight's games definitely prove to me that I love playing blood on the clocktower, and it's really fun with the group I'm playing it with. The vibes tonight were impeccable, really.

I'm pretty sure the main issue of the previous session that left a bad taste in my mouth was the players that aren't with the group anymore, because I'm absolutely immediately back to raving about how much I love BotC and how fun of a story every game told, win or lose

Just for context:

Artist - gets to ask one yes or no question to the storyteller
Golem - can only nominate one player ever in the game, and when they do, the targeted player dies
Mezepheles - learns a secret word at the start of the game, which turns the first good player that says that word evil

This was the funniest game of BotC I've ever participated in. For context, the Mezepheles player in this game was a fellow purple lizard who I'd been on opposing teams with for the ENTIRE night. *Every* single game I was good, she was evil, and vice versa, and many jokes about the purple lizard coalition being shattered were made.

Artist: Hey storyteller, can I chat with you?
(Artist and storyteller step away for a moment)
Artist: Okay, so I asked if one of my neighbors is the demon and got a yes.

Demon: Uhhhhh...
Me (golem): Great! I'm the golem, so I'll take myself out of the picture once nominations open.

Storyteller: Nominations are open
Mezepheles: Wait uh, can I talk to Karma?
Artist: I nominate (demon)

(the vote goes through and passes to put the demon on the block)

Me (golem): I nominate myself! :D
Storyteller: Karma nominates herself... and dies.

Me (golem): Can I go talk to (mezepheles)?
Storyteller: Yeah you know what, sure.

(Mez and I run to a private channel briefly)
Mezepheles: Yeahhh so we haven't been on the same team all night, and I'm just here to tell you that the Mez word is "etcetera" but I don't think you'll wanna say it since you put our demon on the block.
Me: Yeah, probably not, but it would be funny.
Mezepheles: Yeah, it would be.

(back to town square)
Me: Hey, does anyone know what etc stands for?
(town continues rambling about for a bit)
Me: Damn, weird that nobody knew that stood for etcetera.

I then converted myself to the evil team, which lost immediately after the execution went through, knowing damn well that the evil team was about to lose, and just shouted "PURPLE LIZARD SOLIDARITY!"
