Beastieball early access drops today at around 10 AM pacific time, approximately 5 hours from this post.

I'm absolutely going to binge the hell out of it on stream for today and likely tomorrow.

I'm still a bit torn between whether I wanna resume the file that I was using during the playtest or if I wanna start a completely fresh file.

Resuming my playtest file would let me see the specific beasties I got really attached to during the playtest again and resume the story from where I left off, but I'd probably be a bit overleveled for a lot of things? But similarly, I wouldn't really have to grind at all or retrace things I've already done.

Starting over would let the stream stand a bit better on its own and give me the "new player" experience so I could see what it's like to have the full game without all the area restrictions the playtests had. It'd also make for a more coherent vod on the off chance that someone wanted to just watch that.

playing a bunch of campanella 2 kind of reminded me of one of the joys of speedrunning

having a bunch of runs start to blend together and you start forgetting what happened in this run or what happened in the last run

The Wishes Unlimited discord server opened up a discussion forum in anticipation for all of the things that people are going to be talking about when early access drops.

The first thread there was the rules for the forum and some general guidelines on helping people avoid spoilers.

The other thread? "Mold."

It's just been an entire group of people shouting about loving mold. At some point I made a joke about mold 2 and one of the admins changed the thread name, and I just have to imagine at this point anyone coming in and seeing the thread would just be like "what the hell is going on here" lmao

unrelatedly, people really are pulling apart and very carefully investigating every frame of this trailer to extract any bit of information they possibly can and it lead to one of the funniest conversations I've seen in the beastieball spoiler chat based off some things that showed up for literally 2 frames at the 0:53 mark, hahaha

And not only did I beat it, my first clear was a 1CC!

I'm really happy with finally having done this - it's been kind of an on and off progress thing. :)

I've always thought Alien Soldier was a cool as hell game from when I used to watch speedruns of it, but when I finally got the chance to try it myself it was... inscrutable, haha. Going from that to being comfortable enough to beat it on superhard feels awesome.

Now that I'm free from my UFO 50 addiction, let's hop back into Alien Soldier!

It is legally mandated that after you get all 50 cherries in UFO 50 that you have to make a tier list so I made one. Individual game titles are in the alt text, hopefully that's not a horrible idea with how much text that is lol.

The tiers themselves don't have any particular sorting other than their chronological order in game, so all of the S tier games are just generally S tier to me, and so on for each of the other tiers.
