Can I just say, that i have NEVER been scared of AIs or computers in general. Never. It's always the humans that are the worst part and the weakest link in any system. Computers just do what they're told and trained to do. Humans, on the other hand, can go through all kinds of socialization and training and schooling and still say "no, i think you aren't a person worthy of respect and dignity" Seriously. Was getting taught in kindergarten how to fucking share something new after 1984?
@literorrery Totally a fair point and agreed. And I feel that ties back into humans being the broken part.
@literorrery And I realize that a blanket statement like "Humans are broken" is coming from a place for hurt and frustration and anger. But dammit, I'm taking today to be hurt and frustrated and angry. I'll try being charitable and patient again tomorrow.
@kelseyhusky You are allowed to express emotion. You are allowed to take time for yourself. We're here. We'll be here.
@kelseyhusky i was reading an article about an ai which was already biased and held mainstream stereotypes because it machine learned from humans. Yeeep.
@kelseyhusky I'm not scared of AIs or computers. I'm scared of people telling AIs to do things that AIs don't realize is wrong and then not being able to admit where the mistake came from. We have a bad habit of treating algorithms and data as sacred, without asking how they got there.
