So, last week, my handler called me "we have been asked by our client to minimize billable hours, so you need to take 40 hours Unpaid time off before 12/22. PTO can't be used to cover the hours and the UPTO must be used before any PTO can be used."
Naturally, I was pretty confused as to how the client was able to dictate my hours, but I was told that i had to deal with it. My PTO for Bandaza had already been approved, so I had to somehow shoehorn in loosing a week of work…

Some background: I work for company 1. C1 place me as a tech under contract for company 2. C2 has multiple clients at multiple local locations of which I work at 2; on 2 days a week at C3 and one 3 days at C4. My handler told me that the time-off mandate came from C2, so that they can save money, while my partner is telling me that it is so that C1 can get more money for certain C1 employees. My handler also said that i can in no way tell C3 and C4 why I have to be OoO.

@kelseyhusky This is utter bullshit, and I actually winder if it's a fucked-up way of how...other companies in this area do stuff. Contractors tend to be hired for x amount of time, usually a year, and then laid off for three months, then hired back.
M$ started it, but most companies do it now. It's a dodge to avoid paying taxes or some other stupid corporate shit. I've know many friends hit with it.

Fuck being a contractor. This blatant disregard for my life for your bonus is fucking unethical. Too bad it's not criminal. Even if it should be. If I had the spoons/knives for it, I would really want to fight to get a proper IT workers union started. No one should have this little dignity in their employment.
