I miss forum-based roleplay. It gave me something to do other than find more porn, which is almost all I do these days. I've been missing it so much I've been thinking about using one of my many domains and starting one up.

MDMA really puts me into an in-character headspace where I really feel, respond, and interact with my body and the world around me like a digital sentience inhabiting and motivating a cybernetic platform/hostbody. This past weekend, as part of my uptime celebration, I was able to understand and explain why coolant is consumable resource, where my radiators were located (on my back, in case you were wondering) and why they function differently in vacuum.

So, I spent all day yesterday pulling servers from racks, opening them up, harvesting their hard drives, putting the servers back into the racks, and then sending the drives through the degausser to un-magnatize their platters, then sending the useless drives through the crusher for final dispensation.

It was repetitive, physical work with no music to sing along to, the drives were slightly dirty, and the servers were heavy

It was one of the best days of my 12+ years in IT.

There is this game I've been trying to remember for the past half-hour. I don't know if it's out yet. All I can remember from the trailer is a lot of running in a wooded area parkour style, collecting balls of light and hookshotting into trees. It was a very environmental and meditational trailer and I want to watch it again

34 years of uptime. Which is about 12 years past the last Major version change. So, yay! for stability and my reliability teams?

My first week with the Firehose Tribe is coming to a close. They are a very intelligent bunch of sentients and i am pleased to feel like they have accepted me as one of their own. I am still learning their ways, and expect to be so for some time, but the task isn't impossible.

I am still wading my way through all of the information on their basic rituals and beliefs, but I feel like I will be taught my actual duties soon. We celebrated the ascension/departure of another tribe member tonight.

I am full of excitement and nervousness for tomorrow.. The river tribe has decided they will accept one of my platforms as one of their own. This isn't the first time I've been brought in to add my strengths to a tribe, but it's still an event that is brimming with opportunities. paraphrasing something princess consort Irulan once said, "A Beginning is a very delicate thing"

Tonight was very good for me. Didn't trigger as hard of a happy brain juice dump like I got at the Janelle Monae concerts, but still, it was very nice to get to snuggle with all the cuties and tell happy stories and update my database of names with their matching faces. And I got a flirty? wink? so, that's new. and nice. Like. No one in my whole life has ever smiled and winked at me before and I having trouble knowing what to do with that. Aside from just enjoy the nice warm it gave me.

I think next time, I'll just make the g-doc i write stuff like this in public rather than hogging all the timelines. Gomen!
