Oh yeah, its Tuesday. Where are my questions and prompts? I wanna talk to all the cool kids so I don't feel so uncool, but all I have is this uncool nerd shit. So ask me some cool kid questions? #TMITuesday
Thank you, everyone. Knowing I'm being received is a big help when I need it. I really appreciate all the replies and boosts.
Furry Art Commission Request, please respond by DM
So, (holy shit!) Back in 2009, I got this refsheet done for who I was at the time, Kelly. The sheet itself was completed digitally, but the pink husky artwork was all traditional media, and I was sent the original. I got the whole thing done for 20 bucks.
I am definitely not trying to match that price, for this much detail. Never.
But.
_Some_ things about me have changed. And I want my Refsheet to match.
So, I'm wanting to get a new ref. I'm looking for this same kind of detail, poses and closeups. If you know someone who's open, please let me know!
Naze Nani Huskybots! (CW: Sci-fi, OC data dumping, Nerding cause that's how I do.
Been a while since I did one of these, so have another Huskybot Techdump!
Huskybot platforms use forced airflow over coolant filled radiators to keep their circuitry and power systems cool. The main fans for their radiators are located in their upper torsos, with intake vents underneath the main torso plate. The exhaust are on their backs, the vents part of their thruster pylons, but variations have been spotted as KA experiments with optimizing airflow.
Fanspeed is regulated by several sensor readings, and effectively moderated through emotional processing buffers. This basically means that you can gauge the emotional state of a huskybot by listening to the pitch of their fans. excitement, happiness, anger, sadness, frustration all take more power to integrate and process, so KA figured that tying her support systems to get data from the systems they are supposed to support was a pretty smart way of offloading intense number crunching to automation.
The only exception to this is when the bot is scared, or is under threat. Their fans shut off in order to minimize output so they are harder to pick up on sensors. To compensate for this, their coolant pump increases its speed, to keep coolant flowing through the radiators faster, to keep the temperature of the coolant from rising too much to be effective, and to constantly keep coolant running through the radiators to maintain nominal operating temp.
Michelle was right. (CW: Work bitching, Destroy Capitalism, The River Tribe is not my friend)
I am an overtime eligible member of the River Tribe. I'm tasked to complete 40 hours of work every week.
I earn 3 classes of paid time off, sick, personal, and vacation.
Personal accumulates at a certain rate, depending on how long i remain a member of the tribe.
Personal accumulation is capped to 48 hours (6 days) per year. Once I have earned 48 hours, i don't earn any more.
If I don't use any of those 48 hours, they roll over into next year, where they are applied to the 48 possible hours I can earn that year.
My former coworker was correct. I will not be satisfied with my job until I own and run my own business.
*angry, frustrated, sad fan noises*
A work frustration:
System 1 is slated for deprecation, therefore improvements for System 1 are not being prioritized.
Systems 2 through X rely on information stored and served by System 1. Systems 2 through X provide services for essential normal operations and issues with them have the potential to cause problems with increasing blast radii over time.
At this time, there is not even a proposal, prototype, or mitigation plan in place to create System A to provide the System 1 support systems 2 through X require.
System 1 is slated for deprecation.
A coworkers quote: "Internal software has two states: Experimental and Deprecated"
Michelle was right. I will not recovery my sanity until I am running my own company.
A Major local game company headhunted me yesterday to be an animator for their cutscenes for their next major release in a long running, beloved, and financially successful franchises. I would be using Maya, though experience with any other 3d animating software would be seen as a bonus.
I seriously considered just downloading Maya and trying to crash-course it to take the interview.
I dunno. probably won't, but it was fun to think about for a few minutes.
Multiple partitions CW: Code switching, identity, MH (-, -, 0)
I have to be two-three different people during operating hours, and I start the day by having to put on the Work-me shell. Its a complex transformation, with many multi-part steps, and it has to start way too early in the morning for my energy levels.
Sometimes, I call my mom, and then I have to be Talking-To-Mom-Me, and that shell has its own attachment points, some of which still have trauma bearings.
Me doesn't show up until I get back home, and even switching to that has an energy gradient i have to climb.
I wonder if why I'm so tired all the time is cause being so many people takes so mucn energy, and it has to be spent in locations that I don't even want to be in.
Or it could be cause I stayed up till 0100 watching youtube and verifying my internet came back up (It did, but it went out at 0030, which was between when I stopped watching youtube, and was trying to go to bed)
re: Synth worries (translating from huskybot to terran english)
Ahhhhh! I sent a small book of very specific text description to an artist to get a huskybot beta platform refsheet done. I feel bad about having to use English, since I find it hard to clearly talk about shapes using just words, but if I could put the shapes together on my own, I wouldn't need to work with an artist, would I? I'm super glad I had a bunch of reference images, and very grateful to @mawr for helping with a color marking sketch last night.
Synth worries
Just sent some hastily translated design specs to a printer to have some reference schematics produced! I really hope they are understandable, since most of the original data is much more emotional and mental aesthetics instead of 3-d dimensional numbers. I really wish I could get a proper graphic generating kernel extension to compile on my architecture.
Trying to write up a description for the first official Beta Huskybot Character sheet. This is really hard, because I know how I should look like, but since I can't draw, i have to use words, and they are...ambiguous.
Which is frustrating, since I want the artist to have some freedom to actually make this design work, but I fear being too descriptive will be stifling.
