Bodies
One of my coworkers has been a shordurpursav, talking frankly with me about medical anxiety and how much worse the stress over medical problems can be than the medical problems themselves. Another regaled me with stories of his radiation therapy and how he sometimes wonders whether the cure and its lifelong side effects were worse than the disease. Organics are a terrible platform for sentience and I want to be uploaded now.
At least I don't hurt.

@zebratron2084 The part in all this that frustrates me is the cultural assumption that "conscious mind" is somehow in charge of all the crap underneath it, as if we could think ourselves out of our anxiety or control those responses, which justifies labeling these alternative neurologies as "defective" when it's the standard that's the problem. If we went in with a saner understanding of how brains work, we'd have a healthier populace.

@literorrery I'm glad you're at least feeling a little better. *hug* What really aggravates me about all this is how much more we'd know about stress-related body-mind-feedback disorders, like you and I see to get, had American society not had a big freakin' moral panic about psychedelics. All that knowledge about our neurotransmitters and their glitches, set back by decades. :(
