Venting about work
I think it might be time to look for a new job.
They're going to cut off my team from accessing:
• Slack
• Skype
• Dropbox
• Google Drive
• Google Docs
• Gmail
• Telegram
• Trello
• Assembla (our ticketing system and wiki)
and others
They insist they provide everything we need with:
• MS Teams (bad UI & fewer features)
• Skype for Business (company policy doesn't allow chat history or external contacts)
• MS OneDrive (Eh.)
• Company Email
• ServiceNow (…)
• MS Sharepoint

On top of this, they're replatforming to a system based in Java.
I don't know Java. They're offering to teach me which is cool, but... I dunno. Python? Awesome. Ruby? I'm there. ...but Java? ...In 2017??
I mean, all that plus the parent company is heavily invested in the military industrial complex... And so they keep cutting budgets to make up for their losses in sales in that sector and...
I'm not sure I'll ever really be happy at this company, and that sucks. 😞

Today I found out that the company blocks access to Microsoft Teams -- which was the suggested alternative to Slack when my request to unblock Slack was denied.
Also I found out when talking to the helpdesk that they don't use the company provided tools for security reasons(!!!) and guess what they use?
That's right! Slack!
I almost literally cried in frustration today. I started tearing up and got up and made tea and watched stupid shit on YouTube for a while instead

@mawr That, if you'll pardon my foul wind, is some right cuntish antics right there.

@mawr You deserve better treatment than that, and they have done an utter shite job of easing the transition to the new tool chain.

@literorrery Thanks, hon.
I'm being bent to the breaking point. When they start enforcing these restrictions on my coworkers it'll either get better because they'll be forced to fix these bugs, or it'll get bad enough that I'll either
a) be cut off from my team and eventually let go 'cause they can't accommodate me, or
b) my team will all quit out of frustration.
And of course this all happens literally the two weeks following closing on a house I can barely afford...
