I didn't parse that subtext in your initial statement. I'd have agreed with the initial statement if it included "guaranteed confidential" between "direct" and "private messaging." ♥️

@Mycroft @gravecat Perhaps not in the same way Twitter does, but direct private messaging is a feature of Mastodon, and it does work fairly well so long as the message doesn't leave your home instance.

@gravecat I have both! Telegram is my preferred client, though. I'm "{@}Tixagon" there. ^^

@gravecat You can send something like a DM by changing the "status privacy" of a toot to "direct," though bare in mind we're on two different servers, so there's no guarantee of privacy.

@gravecat That's cool, too! I've had the huge advantage of talking to a bunch of gender queer folks over the past few years and that's helped me construct a framework to better discuss this stuff.

The album and first track thereon are called "Binary." The song under that name is basically about how trying to frame life in a binary just doesn't work.
