neat, my Arch still works

now let's see if it survives an update

welp, arch did not survive an update. X now refuses to start because no graphics drivers get loaded. Guess I'll look into that ~~tomorrow~~ in a few months, I guess

@noiob It might be worth digging into the mailing list if it's been that long between updates? I know a few updates have needed manual intervention in the past.

@earfolds there's a mailing list? on debian apt just tells me if something is up with an update

@noiob if something requires intervention it's usually posted here: archlinux.org/news/

You can join a mailing list or subscribe to an RSS feed, and I'm pretty sure someone out there will have made a pacman helper that puts the notifications in your terminal like how Debian does it.

@noiob @earfolds oh yeah! i got roflstomped by more than a few arch updates before i realized there was an rss feed i should be paying attention to

their design goals were for simplicity from a development perspective, which unfortunately doesn't always translate to users

pacman is extremely fast though, and their wiki is top notch

tbh, i didn't use arch for very long--but i do know a few people who like it a lot, despite its occasional update weirdness
