If I were to stream a video game (casual playthrough) would people be interested in watching, either tonight or tomorrow/saturday?
Thinking of doing Boktai: The Sun is In Your Hand as a test stream. Great game, no one seems to know it exists, and isn't a lengthy rpg like most of the games i'd want to play
thinking around 6:00 pm CDT (UTC-5) tonight, or uh. Sometime tomorrow or saturday, no idea when
@Felthry isn't boktai the game that's mentioned every time people talk about in-cartridge hardware for the Gameboy?
@noiob probably! I'd be doing it with a hack that lets you control the solar sensor since, well, you can't emulate that hardware
@Felthry why wouldn't you be able to emulate it?
@noiob It reacts to real sunlight, you'd need an actual sensor hooked up to your computer
you *could* but it'd be a lot of work that no one has yet done
@Felthry most phones have light sensors, the new 3DS has one, though I'm not sure if it's software-accessible
@noiob Ah but it's not a light sensor, it's a *sunlight* sensor. it's calibrated to respond only to sunlight (specifically, certain UV frequencies)
@Felthry I distinctly recall lots of people talking about how they played it under a bright lamp
@noiob yeah, you can cheat with blacklights or cheap fluorescents that leak UV, but modern fluorescents won't work since they're better at not leaking UV
@Felthry p sure they meant incandescents
@noiob Our copy of the game doesn't react to incandescents at all
@Felthry how bout halogens?
@noiob halogens are just a type of incandescent, they don't have a very different spectrum
but we don't have any way to test it short of finding someone with halogen headlights in their car and asking them to turn the high beams on
...i wonder if our car has halogen headlights....
@Felthry huh, I thought halogen lamps were more common, my desk lamp is one I think
@noiob They might be in europe?
All we know about halogens is that they're slightly more efficient and brighter and if you get skin oil on them they tend to explode
@Felthry I'm kinda glad that there's little reason to use anything but LEDs nowadays
@noiob LEDs are great!
@noiob yeah, something about thermal stresses or sometehing
