This isn't a huge complaint, but it really actually would be nice if federation were based on a self-generated key instead of a domain you have to pay for.
Awoo.space is a Mastodon instance where members can rely on a team of moderators to help resolve conflict, and limits federation with other instances using a specific access list to minimize abuse.
