@Felthry I mean, they put their branding on cell phones
@noiob they're unique models, probably made by someone else though yeah
it's not a case of just rebranded generic things though, they actually have them designed for use on construction sites, with stuff built in like a laser rangefinder, thermal camera, and air quality meter, not things you normally see on a cell phone
-F
@Felthry yeah they're pretty cool
I wouldn't wanna carry a phone that weighs about as much as all phones I ever owned combined but I'm sure there's people who like them
@noiob we would want one if they worked on our provider's network
-F
@Felthry oh right y'all still have simlock
@noiob simlock? dunno what that is
i just know they aren't compatible with CDMA networks
-F
@Felthry oh
simlock is when you can only use a phone with a certain provider
@noiob oh they don't have that elsewhere?
you can get unlocked phones here too, they just cost more
-F
@Felthry I'm not sure, prepaid plans are pretty popular around here so the normal way to buy a phone is to just buy it and then just put your existing SIM into it. I pay like 7€/mo for 3GB LTE and unlimited calling/texting
@Felthry I think even if you get a subsidized phone it'll work with other SIM cards
@noiob i dunno
feeling too awful right now for discussion of how things are bad
-F
@Felthry I mean over here
in other news, I didn't know the CDMA/GSM divide was still relevant past 3G
@Felthry yeah sorry, take care!
@noiob mm
still i really have no capacity for this conversation right now sorry
