@noiob @jk you ever think about how toolbars still technically exist these days (ignoring the fact that IAC still have downloads up for their ones), its just that theyre in the form of search engines for the main address bar (which is now hybrid of address and search bar for convenience)

@avie can't say I have, no, but when I started using the internet a built-in search bar was already the norm

@noiob i mean yes same but these toolbars still existed even past that point

the "omnibar" system completely overtook the purpose of toolbars such as these because you could now just add a search engine from literally any site and search anything on there via the omnibar

@avie I just use duckduckgo bangs these days, much easier than maintaining my own set of search engines

@noiob yea thats an alt form of it

browsers like vivaldi have it built in so you can just directly search to sites with a bang tag

@avie firefox has sth like that but you have to define the things yourself

@noiob this is all what ive been referencing to is what i mean haha

@avie @noiob gosh, i looove keywords

my favorite builtin ones are probably ^ for searching history, % for tabs, and * for bookmarked stuff!

it's too bad not a lot of things let you make POST keywords like presto opera used to
