That's just the indoor/private area fwiw, nowhere near the actual size space they live in. The male chose not to come in for food and hung around the big outdoor enclosure to eat later instead. Apparently the female is a lot more sociable though. She hung around the indoor area for ages after food was clearly over, just chilling out and watching us and the keepers.

We got to feed a sneppard

It was a pretty amazing life experience

She was very enthusiastic about food and then just super-chill

Hey everyone, sorry I've not been around online much lately. Partner is over from the US, so spending time together while he's here.

@hokaze@queer.af hihi! how's life treating you?

hi everyone

I'm.. Idk, spacy. Here. Laying down.

Hiiiiii.. *tired wingwave*

yknow, side-shielded non-sunglasses would be pretty useful for like

not being quite so overwhelmed in crowded spaces where I need to focus on something

🤔

@Vordus no one really understands the tragedy of the tall vampire

Colonialism

@Lioness I remember only discovering this stuff when I read a book on cultural narratives about nature in University. And yeah, it had absolutely not been covered in any education up til then. x_x

But that book had some really good stuff about how the idea of a pristine, natural America fed into ideas around manifest destiny ('god made this place really convenient, wow!'), and later conservation strategies revolving around keeping areas 'pure and untouched', when those ecosystems had actually been cultivated & maintained to be that way by native tribes, sometimes using controlled fires/etc.

@Lioness I'm pretty sure the original study was *terrible* in terms of extrapolating wild speculation about wolves as a whole from a bunch of single males from different packs stuck together in a captive environment

So I'm not sure the science was 'victimized' so much as just

Kinda pants already?

boardgame/trek nerding

It's the only game (digital or traditional) I've found that captures the feel of Star Trek

Like, the sheer variety of it allows for a lot of weird spontaneous situations and very different games

You can have ones that are absolute battles, or where no combat happens at all, and you're pootling around the galaxy discovering weird stuff and building starbases. All the while getting weird situations happening, like Mirror Universe Reginald Barclay rescuing the Klingon flagship from a black hole, or Kes as a Romulan double agent planting Tribbles on the Defiant

Managed to introduce a friend to Star Trek: Fleet Captains today. It's my favourite boardgame, but I rarely get a chance to play it with people. She really enjoyed it a lot too, so we'll probably do that again sometime.

Mini Painting, Fantasy

Really proud of how this one turned out!

Mini is the Reaper Miniatures Shipwreck Golem, with a bit of conversion to fix the right arm and make the treasure pile.

kink joke

@LucasTheDrgn@snouts.online
1st Thought: Anything with a "oh no I've been swallowed into an obtuse & draconian institution" setting, tbh
2nd Thought: ..The Castle is just an extremely drawn-out tease & denial scene
