re: Wheelchair Pooptootin'
The nice thing is that I think (fingers crossed) the new silicone rim-covers aren't gonna fall off all the time like the old ones did
(The downside is this backup set are green, and so they unbalance my carefully-planned purple & green aesthetic too far in that direction. I must rectify this with more purple)
re: Wheelchair Pooptootin'
Which reminds me that ughhhhh I need to do a maintenance rundown on my chair, that's way overdue
Nnnnnot today! *flops facedown on bed*
(I'll probably do it on Saturday, it'll give me a chance to teach one of my PAs how to do it/help out)
Wheelchair Pooptootin'
istg if you've ever tried to hand-brake with just a metal-rimmed wheelchair, on a slope, in the rain
Forget powerballs or grip trainers or whatever; doing that takes the grip strength of a silverback gorilla
That dawning realisation that many other wheelchair users could probably crush my skull with their bare hands
Manual Wheelchair Advice (EDS but not exclusively)
Today was the first day in ages I went out without the silicone rim-covers on my wheelchair and *wow*, I really forgot what a difference they make.
I really highly recommend them. I have real problems with gripping hard enough, doubly so 'for prolonged periods' and 'without hyperflexing my fingers' for me; But just in general, it makes both pushing & braking with yr hands so much easier than a bare metal bar.
Gone back to Digimon Cybersleuth after taking a long break from it. It's a good kinda.. Chilling out kinda RPG. There's plenty of stuff you can grind but no feeling of it being a necessary step for plot/etc progression.
It's.. Really good? Like, the plot has a lot of wtf, but with plenty of sincere moments, and it's mechanically dense without being overwhelmingly so.
The designs are stiiiiiill very 90s, but that's kinda Digimon's thing, so.. Not a big enough deal to be offputting to me.
Community Stuff
Going out reminded me how much I don't go out anymore.. But there's not really anything in Nottingham that interests me enough for all the stress and fatigue to be worth it (mostly, but not exclusively, from travel).
Online community is my preferred type. Outdoors is kinda.. There's nice bits, but the bits with humans in consist of: Shops, roads to shops, and noisy + crowded places where ppl host group events.
Currently listening to The Craft Sequence by Max Gladstone. They're very good (though frequently very dark), and was interesting to find the author had written one of the articles about the Terra Ignota books I'm reading through on and off atm (https://adapalmer.com/publication/seven-surrenders/terra-ignota-crooked-timber-seminar/)
Age of Wonders 3 is free on Humble atm! It's probably my favourite 4X, and has a good balance of "Heroes of Might & Magic mixed with Civilisation" kinda gameplay.
Nature, Alcohol
"Pen-tailed treeshrews are the only known mammals that consume alcohol every night, other than humans. According to a study of treeshrews in Malaysia, they spend several hours per night consuming the equivalent of 10 to 12 glasses of wine with an alcohol content up to 3.8% drinking naturally fermented nectar of the bertam palm. This nectar contains one of the highest alcohol concentrations of all natural foods. Pen-tailed treeshrews frequently consume large amounts of this nectar while showing no signs of intoxication."
*DDG's 'pen-tailed treeshrew'*
*looks at*
*rereads*
"10 to 12 glasses of wine [per night]"
*looks at again*
..What the heck, pen-tailed treeshrew?
(It seems they just metabolise ethanol really, *really* well)
(If you're on a tight budget and need one, do what I used to: Get an old top you don't need, a friend you trust, and a lotta duct tape. You can make a cast of yr torso that way pretty easily, it's usually called a duct tape dummy, there's tonnes of tutorials online)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn7UNU9r51I "Utterly Done With This" Vorta Iggy Pop from Star Trek is also good (DS9 Spoilers)
re: Food, Recipe Request, Boosts Welcome
Heck if we go see what like, the corner shop has in terms of curry paste
😬 Probably sensory-gross in greasiness (I struggle with like, oily-texture stuff a lot) but like
Probably better than care person trying to do a curry sauce from scratch.
Pour enough hot sauce in and it'll drown out most things, heh
Food, Recipe Request, Boosts Welcome
Does anyone know any good + quick curry recipes?
Like, "quick" as in "hour to hour and a half max for the whole thing"
