Though to be honest I'm liking having one easy to paint army that just takes to Contrast paints like they were made for it (Seraphon) and one that's intricate swirly armour and a tonne of details

It makes for a good change in.. Painting.. Flavour.. Uh. Paintfeel?

I have 2 Age of Sigmar forces on the go, both are currently at 10 infantry & 1 hero unit.

One of them took like, 2-3 weeks to hit that point, the other took 3-4 months

I will give you a moment to guess which are the elves.

So many gemstones.

re: [covid, pol, ablism adjacent]

Genuinely spent a while trying to work out how to phrase that without "stupid", but feels like it's tied into that narrative at a very deep level

Think trying to talk about it without engaging with that angle at all would be worse;- The core appeal is pairing a simple story of events with the innate implication that the reader is part of a [rational, calm, mature, intelligent] superior group

I suspect it's not news to anyone here that the chorus of

"Everyone who isn't me is stupid and greedy!! That's why things are bad!!! Stop hoarding!!!!!!"

That's going around is primarily working as a means of mass self-soothing, rather than an attempt at a workable explanation of the situation we are in.

Nontheless, this still is a good/short article on supply chain dynamics that's worth a read

I have achieved better wristbraces!

Cuz there ought to be more options than "black, medical blue or beige", especially if you're like me and have to wear them a *lot*.

Going to improve on some stuff in later designs (stronger interfacing, lengthen the top strap, widen the main body beneath the thumb opening), but these work and I'm happy with how they turned out!

Frostgrave's core book + co-op/solo materials are currently free! Also resources on how to play it with Lego.

One of my favourite skirmish games, so check it out if dice-rolling wizardbiffs are your thing

re: Warhammer Stuff

Me painting Idoneth "Ughhh 20 infantry is a slog"

Then proceeding to make an army with 60 Skinks in

Thankfully they are cheap (0.5x the cost of the Idoneth troops in points and £) and take to Contrast Paints so well it's scandalous

Whereas the Idoneth are, well.. They're Elves. "Fast to paint" is anathema to them.

Warhammer Stuff

On the plus side, I picked the exact right time (about 2w before all this) to start a horde army

Just swimming in Skinks like Scrooge McDuck

(don't actually do this, skinks are smol and delicate lizardfriends)

Birthday Bat!

Pastelbat 3.1: You Can (Not) Have Cake

Never have I identified with a videogame character as much as the tiny manic cosplay goblin from Dicey Dungeons

trans pol, dysphoria narratives, transphobia

"Transphobes will misuse it" isn't an excuse to hurt and suppress other trans people's experiences.

You can't come up with a clean version of trans that phobes will embrace. That's a hill without a summit, using others as the stairs.

"Transphobes misuse". Full stop. That's all you need.

Even if you silence every single voice that isn't yours they'll keep misusing, because it's not supposed to be fair. Theirs isn't a set of standards we'll ever meet. The goal is destruction.

Policing other trans people's feelings and experiences isn't going to do anything except help achieve that.

Trust me, 'Sweeping less palatable subgroups of your minority under the rug and your enemies will no longer be able to hurt the rest' has a long history.

That history spans contemporary trans communities, and far beyond those borders. Many groups try this, and have tried it in the past. If you still earnestly believe that's the right thing to do, I implore you to go away and research it.

It has never, ever worked.

Does anyone know of a good resources to point to of the history of fanfiction, highlighting personal exploration, AU stuff, queer community, etc?

( @Brainship do you know any good ones maybe?)

re: Food Question, Disability, Covid

Not um, subtooting but from responses realising I was a bit vague re "low prep"

Anything microwaveable, anything you can leave and set an alarm for (not lots of separate steps you have to do this with, tho), anything that doesn't need like, standing over a stove or pan of cooking food and stirring it

"toast, porridge, noodle pots" is a good estimate of the level of.. Energy, stamina, maintained focus, steps, that I'm talking about when I say low-prep

Food Question, Disability, Covid

I know something similar was asked recently but can't find it

Can anyone recommend v.low preparation meal options that are doable in er, the current situation

I rely on online deliveries & readymeals/frozen pmuch exclusively b/c disability, but that's all becoming increasingly difficult to get access to, so I want to know any options I don't know already (cereal, toast, porridge, noodle pots)

ADHD Question

Is there any research or identified types of ADHD where the hyperactivity component specifically kicks in much later in the day/night cycle?

further RPG natter

I want to try Pathfinder 2..

It looks really promising as a "We're established, so now we're doing our own thing."

Also you can play as a goblin, and tbh every game should let you play as a goblin

And stuff like moving away from 'species = race = monoculture' problems and showing you don't need to do that to have D&D-style character choices in a fantasy setting

And representation stuff which PF's always been pretty ahead of the pack with and improves on here

Yeah it looks good
