Alrick just incinerated a bunch of guards in a wall of flame for forcing people from leaving a major city and killing someone who broke through
there's an impending demon invasion and he saw the guards enacting a major evil in his eyes and very impulsively took vengeance on the guards wholesale for the actions of a single one
he set hundreds of people free doing this. they might die anyway but he feels like he did a good thing, but feels HORRIBLE for taking the guards' lives

@vahnj dang in my game of Dresden Files RPG tonight I /shredded/ some goons the abusive fundie cult I grew up in sent to try and abduct me, which was kind of re-traumatizing. They almost succeeded. Then I had an intense conversation with the priest in our party about the ethics of violence. I'm kind of still decompressing after the session ended for the night.
RPGs are a good space for doing morally dubious shit in a safely sandboxed environment.
