"This isn't something humans are built to fully understand" is sometimes perfectly reasonable and useful theology, and sometimes a total cop-out.

And it can be hard to tell which is which.

@starkatt I would argue that if it leads to a net improvement in personal happiness, it's useful theology. If it doesn't, it's a cop-out.

I think, however, that says more about me than it does about what you've said.

@starkatt "Happiness" is likely the wrong word as well. Empowerment? Eudaimonia? Self-knowledge? There's probably a better framing than simply emotional positivity that includes space for hard truths which empower people and sadnesses which reveal greater opportunities, but I'm also at work and not able to devote the fullness of my gears to this right now.
